HCG AND THE "SARASOTA DIET" Day 22. Meal Options ROBERT G CARLSON, MD,FACS

Day 22: 215.8
HCG Dose 30o units (.3 or the "30" mark)
Day 15-25: 300 units

My weight went up today and probably because I just haven't been exercising. I love to run, and because of the long hours in the office, can't seem to dedicate the time. This weekend however I will plan to go for runs on Saturday and Sunday, and if lucky may see numbers into the 211 range for the first time in about 10 years. Pretty neat! This morning for breakfast I had a chocolate whey shake and a few cups of coffee. I had a liposuction this morning, so I wanted to make sure I ate a snack before starting in on the procedure, since I may be in the operating room for a number of hours. I ate three of the Babybel gouda cheese balls. For lunch I ate my thick sliced turkey again and rolled up some smoked Gouda and Muenster cheese. See the above photo. I could have eaten 10 of those roll-ups, and it would not have made any difference since there are no carbohydrates at all in my roll-ups. For dinner I had a salad with spinach, olives, blue cheese dressing, and tomatoes. (See the picture below) Note there are 6 grams of carbohydrates, and two grams of sugar with all of the veggies , olives, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

Day 21: 214.6 HCG injection 300 units ( .3 cc) days 15-25

This morning I started my day with some coffee and three fried eggs with bacon and cheddar cheese on a low carb wrap. I used the one wrap for all three eggs. This is a little more carbs that I should have in the morning, but I will just have to restrict my carbohydrate intake tonight. I ate two hard boiled eggs , i made yesterday for a mid morning snack and ate three thick turkey roll-ups with Muenster cheese ( I will show you that in the next blog). No afternoon snack, but again focused on drinking alot of water between seeing patients. For dinner I heated a pound, yes a pound of bay scallops in a frying pain with olive oil, and then after browning them on both sides (about 4 minutes each side) , I put them in the oven on broil with some Parmesan and Romano cheese. It was really filling and my 11 year old actually really liked it too. Life sure has its mysteries. I went with the sugar free jello and low sugar whip cream for dessert, and thus consumed no carbohydrates for dessert. Another key to successful weight loss is to have an adequate level of Vitamin D. Let me explain how beneficial this really is to weight loss.

Research proves that Vitamin D improves weight loss Robert G Carlson, MD, FACS

RESEARCH PROVES THAT VITAMIN D IMPROVES WEIGHT LOSS

Researchers at Aberdeen University found that low levels of vitamin D interfered with the function of a hormone called leptin, which tells the brain when the stomach is full. The study also found that excess body fat absorbs vitamin D, stopping it entering the bloodstream. Unfortunately in the winter months, when exercise is difficult and seasonal depression creeps in, low vitamin D levels are epidemic and will cause weight gain. In addition, the rapid spiral worsens as the accumulation of excess body fat leads to the fat-soluble vitamin D becoming locked away in fat cells.

In another study involving 60 overweight/obese women aged 20-35 years adhering to a low calorie diet, those with higher vitamin D levels lost more weight and fat. This supports the theory that women with a better vitamin D status will respond better to low calorie diets and lose more body fat.

In postmenopausal women calcium/vitamin D supplements have been shown to slow weight gain This finding comes from a detailed, seven-year study of more than 36,000 U.S. women enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative. It clearly demonstrates that most weight gain was in the youngest postmenopausal women and that Vitamin D and calcium slowed the process of weight gain.

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have discovered that if you are struggling to lose weight or have lost weight but plateaued, that adding vitamin D3 to a high protein diet may be just be the boost you need. They found that you could lose 25 pounds of flab from your body in about 7 seconds per day, simply by adding vitamin D3 this year. So it appears that Vitamin D3 may be the "SWITCH" that turns on automatic fat burning engine.

A 2009 study conducted by researchers from the University of Minnesota found that overweight people have better success in losing weight when their vitamin D levels are increased. When combined with a reduced-calorie diet, it appears that supplementation with vitamin D helps to promote increased weight loss among those whose levels are low. For each nanogram per milliliter increase in vitamin D precursor, it was observed that an extra half-pound loss in weight occurred while on the diet plan.

To address the Metabolic syndrome and the increase in visceral abdominal fat, I believe it is critical to understand the connection between vitamin D levels and insulin resistance. Vitamin D deficiency may contribute to the wide set of disorders associated with this syndrome of high cholesterol, insulin resistance, high blood pressure and increased abdominal fat. In a study published in 2004, the authors saw a 60% improvement in insulin sensitivity in healthy, vitamin D replete adults — and determined that vitamin D was more potent than two prescription medications commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes.

Clearly, vitamin D is critical in regulating our weight, and knowing the dramatic impact on thyroid function, and optimizing metabolism, the correlation between rising rates of obesity and vitamin D deficiency aren’t a surprise. Vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol supports so many important functions in our bodies and interacts with over 2000 Genes. To believe that the only benefit of Vitamin D is to improve bone growth seems short cited at best. Focus on optimizing your vitamin D levels, and a healthy and active lifestyle will be in your future. MORE INFO AT WWW.ANDLOS.COM

HCG AND THE "SARASOTA DIET" Day 20, Is My Thyroid stopping me from losing weight? ROBERT G CARLSON, MD,FACS

Day 20: 215

HCG Schedule: 300 units (.3 cc) for days 15-25

I started my day with a chocolate whey shake and a cup of coffee. I boiled six eggs so that I could eat them for snacks during the day and for breakfast tomorrow. The hard boiled eggs, really seem to curb my appetite and are very filling. For my mid-day snack I ate a egg and two of the Babybel cheeses. My lunch consisted of three roll-ups (London Port Roast beef and Horseradish Cheddar). I had to eat rather quickly as we had a back to back patient day.

I drank about four bottles of water during the day, a couple of them the Aquafina Raspberry flavored water. Those are really good as well as are the Grape flavored ones. I didn't eat a snack but for dinner ate an entire Lemon Pepper Chicken( zero carbs, zero sugar) and no salad. My dessert consisted of a strawberry Atkins shake , blended with five strawberries and some ice...topped with whip cream.

Is My Thyroid stopping me from losing weight and how common are thyroid problems that result in weight gain and poor energy levels? Robert G Carlson, MD, FACS

Thyroid Disease: The Numbers

So how common are Thyroid problems that cause weight gain?

The AACE (American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists) established new TSH Guidelines (0.3 - 3.0 vs. 0.5 - 5.0). Unfortunately for you, Labcorp and most physicians still insist that a level of 4.5 is normal? With these new changes the number of people estimated to be affected by abnormal thyroid function have doubled. Are you one of them? From my perspective the classic low thyroid patient most often presents with two classic symptoms:. The first is the inability to lose weight despite exercise and careful food intake, and the second, feeling of exhaustion in the mid to late afternoon, almost like you have to take a nap or at least drink a double expresso to get through the rest of the day. Please understand that having non-optimal thyroid function means that it will be extremely difficult to achieve your goals of weight loss. Metabolically your system is not working well and even drastic measures of dieting and exercise often yield minimal to no results. This gets very depressing, to the point that you might decide to just “give it up” and accept that you will start to accumulate that extra fat around your belly.

The number of people affected by Thyroid Disease now surpasses the number of people diagnosed with Diabetes or Heart Disease.

  • 27 Million: The number of Americans estimated to suffer from Thyroid Disease. (And 75 % of those patients are being treated with the worthless therapy of only T4 or synthroid alone)
  • 13 Million: The number of Americans estimated to suffer from Thyroid Disease...but remain undiagnosed.( I think that this number is much higher)
  • 14 Million: Estimated number of Americans affected by Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (Autoimmune Thyroiditis / Hypothyroidism). And that means that the TSH lab test , and even all the basic thyroid lab tests are worthless. And by the way, 30% of women over the age of 50 will have these antibodies, will have classic low thyroid symptoms, and will be told their lab values are normal! The lab tests are worthless, and the ONLY way to manage Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is by adjusting the medications to a patient’s signs and symptoms.
  • 8 out of 10: Patients with Thyroid Disease are women.
  • 5x - 8x: Women are 5 to 8 times more likely to suffer from Hypothyroidism than men.
  • 25%: Approximate number of women that will develop permanent Hypothyroidism.

So stop suffering from low energy levels (especially in the late afternoon), weight gain( despite eating right and exercising), brain fog, muscle aches and pain, poor digestion, hair loss, dry skin and depression. Just say “no” to only being tested with TSH, and demand to get the full panel. If you are NOT getting better on replacement therapy, demand that your doctor checks your thyroid antibodies. And demand that your doctor takes care of you and NOT a worthless unreliable lab test like TSH.

HCG AND THE "SARASOTA DIET" Day 19, So Are You Overweight Because You're Not Sleeping Enough? ROBERT G CARLSON, MD,FACS

Day 19: 215.6

Continuing to exercise and went to bed early last night...and lost more weight. Gotta Love it! I begin the morning with my coffee and had two hard-boiled eggs. Also took a three hard boiled eggs with me to work and ate those through the course of the day. they really suppressed my appetite. I only ate two Turkey and smoked Gouda roll-ups today and had a steak and salad with lots of Blue Cheese dressing for my dinner. I mixed a vanilla Atkins drink with ice and a handful of blueberries for dessert. I will continue with comments on weight loss and a good nights sleep.

Are You Overweight Because You're Not Sleeping Enough?

Everyone knows the importance of exercise and how it helps us with weight loss, but on some days don't you just wish you could have stayed in bed sleeping and lose weight at the same time?

Well, maybe you can. Because sleep is actually a critical part of your weight loss program!

This is a little-known fact, but did you know that sleep can affect your weight? Rather, it's the lack of sleep that can make you put on unnecessary weight. One may actually lose more weight if only they were to sleep more every day. Rather intriguing thought, but the facts are in and sleep is critical to weight loss....

In a review of several studies at the University of Chicago the impact of sleep on the regulation of metabolism and the secretion of growth hormone during the early phase of sleep was performed. In addition research has also identified the deleterious effects of sleep loss on the endocrine system and glucose modulation. One study examined the effect of sleep debt and sleep recovery on hormone concentrations. Sleep deprivation raised the 24-hour cortisol levels, and dramatically impaired glucose metabolism. A more recent study looked at the effect of 10 vs. 4 hours of sleep on appetite. Individuals who slept 4 hours were always hungry and craved starchy, sweet, and salty foods. These results suggest that sleep deprivation produces a signal supporting a negative energy balance and causing people to eat and thereby predisposing to obesity. Sleep deprivation also affected glucose metabolism and leptin levels and caused increase the appetite for unhealthy foods. Unfortunately this sleep deprivation had a greater impact on obese individuals and older adults. Research has also shown that sleep restriction might have worse effects in women than in men as well. So individuals that may be more severely affected by sleep deprivation are: (1) obese individuals, (2) older adults, and (3) women.

That's really crucial if you're a woman over 40,who is experiencing sleep deprivation from plummeting progesterone levels and not getting enough sleep. This will undoubtedly make you feel hungry constantly and crave for all the unhealthy foods even more as compared to other people. And the more overweight you are, the more you may be affected by the lack of sleep. So a recent study that identified women who do not sleep enough tend to be more overweight than women who get sufficient sleep really shouldn’t be of much surprise to you? So go to bed early tonight and lose more weight!

HCG AND THE "SARASOTA DIET" Day 18, So Are You Overweight Because You're Not Sleeping Enough? ROBERT G CARLSON, MD,FACS

Day 18: 216.4

Got up early this morning and ran 5 miles. Had my coffee before I left, but waited to get home before I drank my chocolate whey milkshake. I am experiencing no significant sweet craving and feel confident I can complete this 28 day cycle, and you should feel like you can as well. Over the course of the day I ate a bag of almonds and focused on drinking at least 100 ounces of water today. For lunch had a ceasar salad with chicken in it. A big salad and without the croutons there was only about 4 grams of carbohydrates. I had some more bay scallops and a mixture of Romano and Parmesan cheese melted over it. After reading this segment though i think I will try to go to sleep a little earlier and take my progesterone ( will talk about this later in another blog).

So Are You Overweight Because You're Not Sleeping Enough?

I wanted to review different reasons why we may not lose the anticipated weight we want to lose. It may not be our fault. And, reasons once identified, may catapult you into successful weight loss, not only achieving your goals but maintaining the weight loss you have achieved . Everyone knows the importance of exercise and how it helps us with weight loss, but on some days don't you just wish you could have stayed in bed sleeping and lose weight at the same time?

HCG AND THE "SARASOTA DIET" Day 16, FAT BURNING ACCELERATOR INJECTIONS ROBERT G CARLSON, MD,FACS

Day 16: 217.6

I went for a run after getting home from work and that seemed to pay off when I weighed-in the next morning. Even running a few miles, i feel confident that I am burning fat for my primary energy source and I have proven that I am in ketosis. This morning for breakfast I had my coffee, but also two hard boiled eggs,. Eggs have been know to suppress appetite and give you a full feeling. And all for zero calories. For lunch I munched on roll-ups though the day. I believe I actually ate 5 separate roll-ups, but again using only meats and cheese, there are absolutely zero carbohydrates. For dinner I stopped by Publix and grapped a lemon Pepper chicken, and ate most of that. Dessert was an Atkins vanilla shake blended in the blender with a half dozen blueberries and crushed ice. Topped with a whole bunch of low carb whip cream. This has been very easy, and my appetite for sweets has been totally blocked with the use of HCG. Only 12 days left, and these have always been the tough pounds to get rid of. Last section on the weight loss injections to follow. I wanted to summarize again what is in the injection and will finally talk about all the B-vitamins and Chromium.

Dr. Rob’s Fat Burning Accelerator Formula contains:

Methionine, Inositol, Choline, L-Carnitine, Pyridoxine, Riboflavin, , Thiamine, Niacinamide, B-12, Chromium, Dexpanthenol

Vitamin B6 is added to the vitamin B12 with Lipotropic injections as a coenzyme that stimulates the metabolism. Patients tend to feel more sustained energy levels when combined with B12 and the key amino acids.

Chromium is known to enhance the action of insulin, a hormone critical to the metabolism and storage of carbohydrate, fat, and protein in the body. It is beneficial in preventing age-related decline in the ability to maintain normal levels of sugar (glucose) in their blood. Absorption of chromium from the intestinal tract is very low, so providing it as an injection bypasses the absorption issues and speeds the chromium to the blood stream to help control glucose levels, correct glucose intolerance and insulin resistance , two indicators that the body is failing to properly control blood-sugar levels, a precursors to type 2 diabetes .

Chromium supplements have been shown to reduce body fat and increase lean (muscle) mass, as well as improve lipid metabolism, reducing LDL’s and triglycerides

Effective and successful weight loss requires multiple approaches, not just reduced diet and exercise. Optimizing your metabolism is an absolute requirement; otherwise your weight loss plan will be destined for failure.

B-Complex vitamins are a mixture of multiple essential B-vitamins that our bodies require on a daily basis.

Active Ingredients:

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine HCL) 50mg
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin 5 phosphate sodium) 7.5mg
Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) 75mg
Vitamin B5 (D-Pantothenic Acid) 10mg
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCL) 2mg

Researches and studies have proved that Vitamin B complex injections are more efficient than tablets, gels or liquids.

Vitamin B-complex injections are most useful for fatigue caused due to nerve damage, diabetes, sciatica, tinnitus, effects of stress, chronic disease, B12 deficiency and a number of other conditions.

Vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine) injections are critical for protein metabolism, energy production and normal nervous system function. Vitamin B-6 is involved in nearly 60 enzyme systems in the body, necessary for normal growth, red blood cell synthesis and vitamin B-12 absorption. Pyridoxine is an indispensable member of the vitamin B-complex because it supports many vital functions which makes our body perform at its optimal level. Probably the most important among the functions that Pyridoxine performs is its being a coenzyme in the metabolism of our proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Vitamin B6 plays a major role in making proteins, hormones, and neurotransmitters (chemicals that carry signals between nerve cells).

Pantothenic acid is a B vitamin also known as Vitamin B5. It is a water soluble vitamin that is a necessary requirement of the human body. Pantothenic acid is needed by the body in order to from coenzyme A and is also crucial in metabolizing proteins, carbohydrates and fats inside the body. Coenzyme A is required for generating energy from foods. It causes chemical reactions in the body that makes the energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins that we eat.

Vitamin B-1 or thiamine is a water-soluble vitamin needed to process carbohydrates, fat, and protein. Usually found in wheat, fish, and meat.

Niacinamide is also known to enhance insulin production and protects insulin sensitivity and secretion by helping in cell function and metabolism. Niacinamide or nicotinamide, comes from vitamin B3 or niacin. A vitamin important in carbohydrate metabolism, the formation of testosterone and other hormones, the formation of red blood cells and maintaining the integrity of all cells. Niacinamide helps your body to utilize protein, fats and carbohydrates. It is necessary for a healthy nervous system and digestive system.

Vitamin B2 – Riboflavin metabolism, better digestion, and an in-sync melody of the vitamins and minerals within can help the dieter reach their weight loss goals a bit quicker and safer. Keep in mind that vitamins should be obtained from natural food sources and vitamin supplements are just that - a safety net to help the body meet the daily requirements. Because dieters generally restrict calories, vitamin supplements may help ensure better nutrition and a more efficient metabolism.

A healthy diet incorporates essential vitamins and minerals which can assist the dieter with better weight loss results. Because dieters generally restrict calories, vitamin supplements may help ensure better nutrition and a more efficient metabolism.

A co-enzyme that coverts protein, sugars and fat into energy. Good for repairing tissues and membranes.

Fad dieting, fasting, liquid dieting and yo yo dieting may affect your body's balance and leave the dieter deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. In that event, it will be more difficult to drop pounds and to feel like exercising due to fatigue. If you have been dieting for a long period of time and feel under the weather, or like you are locked in a mental fog, get with your doctor for a professional evaluation.

So how do I do it?

The Fat burning formula injections are given 2-3 times each week, preferably in the morning. Each vial has approximately either contains 10 cc , or 30 cc. All you need to do is draw up 1 cc into a 1 cc TB syringe. Injections are given in the tummy area next to your navel.(subcutaneously, not intramuscular). I often have patients “pinch and inch” , hold it for a count of three, and then give the injection. (no need to draw back in the syringe). This is also shown on the videos about various injections on the website.
